Anticipating Our Annual Conference in 3 Words

This coming week is our Annual Conference, November 13-15. About 150 pastors and leaders will gather at Valley View to share and learn together. The theme this year is “Beyond Ourselves.” We are praying that it will be a great 2 and a half days!

LET’S TALK…

So here are three words that summarize what I’m looking forward to this coming week at the Pacific Annual Conference.

  1. Dependence. The other day on a coaching call, I was reminded of how essential it is for us to depend on God’s Spirit. “‘Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit!’ says the Lord” (Zechariah 4:6).  I’m looking forward to experiencing God’s presence as we spend time worshipping and praying together. The fact is, nothing happens without Him!

“Unless God has raised you up for this very thing, you will be worn out by the opposition of men and devils. But if God be for you, who can be against you? Are all of them together stronger than God? O be not weary of well doing!”  –John Wesley

  2. Relationships. I just look forward to seeing everyone! As a Conference of churches, our desire is to be in relationship with each other, not just part of an organization.  We are better together. I believe that. God takes pleasure in his people getting along!  “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!” I truly consider us friends, working together for God’s Kingdom!

“True friends face in the same direction, toward common projects, interests, goals!” –C. S. Lewis

  3. Challenge. I also expect to be stretched. One of the highlights of our time together will be hearing about what God is doing in and through our churches to impact our culture.  This past year, I’ve been challenged to reach out and build relationships with non-believers. I’m not doing a good job. It’s too easy for me to get busy doing church stuff and not relate to a world that desperately needs Jesus.

“But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect” 1 Peter 3:15

BEFORE YOU GO…

Most of you reading this are probably not attending our Conference.  However, would you pray for this special gathering? We have lots of things planned, decisions to make, but most of all, we want to meet God. Thank you!

so glad to be invited to pray with and for annual conference from wintery Montana. Ties in very nicely with the admonition from Oswald Chambers in Utmost about intersession.
