This week our entire nation will celebrate Thanksgiving. Ironically, we can miss the whole point of the holiday. We are so busy preparing, cooking, and entertaining, we barely get a prayer out before the meal. For me, I need to slow down, stop, and truly take time to thank God.
LET’S TALK…
The Psalmist said “Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good. His love endures forever” (Psalm 136:1). Here are three simple prayers I’m praying this Thanksgiving.
“Lord, thank you for the
GRACE you have given me!”
What is grace? It’s God’s undeserved goodness in our lives. God gives us what we need, not what we deserve. That’s grace! The Bible says that every good thing comes from Him (James 1:17). Think of all He has provided. Life. Forgiveness. Family. Daily provisions. Eternity. Every blessing is from God’s hand! Take time to thank Him for all His grace and goodness.
“Lord, thank you for the
PLANS you have for me!”
Life is not an accident. God does have a plan and purpose for all of us. Paul reminds us that God’s will is “good, pleasing and perfect” (Romans 12:2). Even when I don’t understand, I know God is in control. Thank God for his plans!
“Lord, thank you for the
CHANGES you are making in me!”
Even if others give up on you, God sees your potential. He won’t give up on us. I like that old saying, “God loves you just the way you are, but loves you far too much to let you stay that way.” The Apostle Paul wrote that He was “confident that God, who began the good work within you, will carry it on to completion…” (Philippians 1:6). Thank God that he is making changes in your life that you could never make on your own.
BEFORE YOU GO…
